Non Profits

Serving Local Communities

We believe in being the best corporate stewards. Summit Bank is the only bank on the Top 100 Best Green Companies list, according to Oregon Business Magazine, for the past three years in a row. Moreover, the majority of out marketing budget is spent on sponsorships of local nonprofits and arts organizations. In 2021, Summit Bank donated over $300,000 to nonprofits in the Central Oregon, Portland Metropolitan, and Eugene/Springfield markets.

Philanthropy and Volunteering

We believe that the best way to better our communities is to associate with and assist the local nonprofits.

All of our colleagues are encouraged and paid to volunteer for 24 hours a year for the nonprofit or school of their choice. In addition, we have an employee donation match of up to $250. For example, if one of our colleagues donates $250 to The Conservation Alliance, the bank will match the donation up to $250.

All of our 20 Central Oregon team colleauges volunteer and dedicate time to local non-profit organizations, including serving on Boards of Directors, Advisory Boards, and committees. Among the organizations we serve are Deschutes Children’s Foundation Board of Direcctors, Redmond Economic Development Inc. Board of Directors, Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council Budget Committee, Business Oregon Finance Committee, Rimrock Trails Treatment Services Advisory Board, Oregon Bankers Association, Healthy Families of the High Desert Advisory Board and more!

We encourage a community of philanthropy and often share local volunteer opportunities from the United Way with all of our colleagues. Each year, we average a total of 80 non-profit fundraisers or events that we help sponsor.

Internships

We provide a wide variety of internships at Summit for both high school and college students. We work closely with the School of Business at the University of Oregon, Oregon State University and Portland State University to recruit students who major in finance with an emphasis in banking. We currently have five colleagues full time on staff who were in previous internship positions.
